Here Comes The Bride.

With about 5 months left until our big day I can honestly say that I am starting to stress a little bit since we have a lot left to finish. With the dress already purchased and the wedding photographer, Shari Hunt
, booked those are two less things I will need to worry about. Hopefully the check will be sent to the church
on Thursday so i can put my mind at rest about not having a ceremony site. Yes, that's right I'm booking our church 5 months beforehand. Most brides would have this done long ago, right? Well I suppose since the fiance and I are paying for most of the wedding ourselves, and I have no Wedding Planner, and I'm doing most of the planning, I'm getting things done as best as I can. I know there are plenty of little things that I have still not smoothed out but I feel as if I'm on the right track for the amount of time we have left.

Right now my main focus's are : Reception Site, Invitations, Cakes and Hair & Makeup. The last two aren't really a priority at this time but I've spent the last hour use Google and sending e-mails. I'm looking at two different Reception Site's, Creating Memories
and Arts Center
, and I have an appointment with the first on Sunday. I really hope that Creating Memories looks better in person then in pictures. And I really love the idea of the Arts Center because to me it seems non-traditional and it would just be gorgeous but their a little pricey so I'm going to see if I can get it for a cheaper price. As far as Invitations go I am looking into DIY'ing my own and asked a friend to make a design for me. I'm very excited to see what she comes up with because she's very crafty whereas I am not.

I know, calm down and breathe, all that matters is that you two are married at the end of the day. I've heard that a million times and while I agree I can't help but be anxious and worry about one of the biggest days of our lives, another would be our first born child, so forgive me if I fall behind with the blog world I promise I have not forgotten you. And I suck at doing this whole link-in-text-thing, don't ask why there is a gap between my links and words because I have no idea.

Day One Hundred & Eleven. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & Eleven. - Face Routine. - A couple of months ago I finally used my Gift Card, from Christmas, to a place called The Body Shop. Originally I had been using Tea Tree Oil Face Wash but wasn't seeing any results, only more break outs, and I was starting to tire of the smell. After speaking with a worker at the store she suggested that I used the Seaweed collection and since I only had enough for one item I bought the Clarifying Toner. I'll have to admit that it has worked wonders, although I do have the occasional break out during certain times of the month, and I've seen a great improvement in the way my skin looks, I also got a few small samples of the face wash and the moisturizer. And from my Bare Minerals collection I use the Skin Rev-er-Upper. Maybe one of these days I'll get rid of all my "Adult Acne".

Day One Hundred & Ten. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & Ten. - Sample Invitation. - As I mentioned before I ordered some free sample invitations from a discount wedding invitation website. Well, they arrived, I was rather disappointed with the paper quality of the other two samples but this one, if I had to choose, was my favorite. Not to say that I loved it and just had to have it but if came down to it then I'd use these for the wedding. Hopefully that won't be the case, though, since I'm having a friend make a design for our invitations.

Day One Hundred & Nine. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & Nine. - For Those Hard To Reach Spots. - We bought this in order to be able to reach our ceilings when we put in the face plates at our house and for when we install our ceiling fans. This will also help me be able to reach the tops of our cabinets, since I'm pretty short, when the fiance isn't around to help.

Day One Hundred & Eight. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & EIght. - Welcome Home! - As you can see our Front Door as been put in. I assume that while the door was being put up that the trimming on the side someone got pulled off. Just one more thing we will have to get them to fix before we close.

Day One Hundred & Seven. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & Seven. - Front Porch. - On this day we noticed that our Front Porch Light and numbers were put in.

Day One Hundred & Six. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & Six. - "CookBook". - Instead of spending the money to buy your typical cookbook I decided to make my own using Recipes I know we will eat and a small three ring binder. I also plan to use the sheet protectors to store them in and put them in the book in alphabetical order.

Quote of the Day.

"The reason why worry kills more people than work is that more people worry than work."
Robert Frost.

This totally coincides with what is going on in my life right now.

Day One Hundred & Five. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & Five. - Environmentally Friendly Paint. - While at Home Depot I decided to look at paint since white walls are a bore and I want some color in my home. I ran across this particular brand of paint and thought it would be great to use on our walls. Granted, it's a bit more expensive then regular paint, about 10 dollars more, but I think it's worth it in the long run. It's paint that doesn't smell like pain because, honestly, who likes the harsh fumes and the headache that comes along with it? It's the first ever paint that does not contain VOCs. You must be wondering what VOCs are, right? Let me explain. VOCs are Organic compounds that evaporate readily into the air. VOCs include substances such as benzene, toluene, methylene chloride, and methyl chloroform. Basically, it's really bad for you and with this paint you get none of the chemicals. Anyway, now I've got to convince the fiance to let me spend the extra money and buy the paint. Maybe he will see the proof when our three free samples arrive.

Day One Hundred & Four. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & Four. - Invitation Hunting. - I had noticed that you could have "Samples" shipped to you of the invitations and decided to pick three from the website, www.annsbridalbargain.com, just to play with ideas for our invitations. Since our wedding is in the Fall I figured that this light tan with brown leafed paper would do just the trick. Did I like them? I suppose you'll have to wait and see when they arrive.

Edit : This was before thinking of DIY'ing my own invitations, just a little FYI.

Day One Hundred & Three. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & Three.- Click Apple + P. - There is some Mac lingo right there for you. The truth is we have been needing a printer for a while now for various reasons but mostly because we'd rather not use the Apartment Office anytime we need to print something, that really sounds repetitive. We shopped around, at two different places, and settled on a small printer from Best Buy, if I'm remembering correctly. Originally we planned to spend around $50 dollars and found this one for about $40 dollars. Yet when we got up to the counter to pay we found out that it was only $29 dollars. Score. And we got a huge bundle of amazingly white printer paper for less then $10 dollars, talk about finding a good deal!

Day One Hundred & Two. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & Two. - Light Switches. - Not only do we have toilets, and running water, we also have electricity in our new home!

Sunday, April 20, 2008

Day One Hundred & One. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred & One. - Organization Skills. - I'm a messy girl, what can I say, but once things get too messy I end up having to clean or organize things. I have a terrible disease called procrastination, which I could also call laziness, and it sometimes gets the better of me. But when I am in the "cleaning mood" everything sparkles and has it's place.

Day One Hundred. - Project 365.

Day One Hundred. - Magazine Subscription. - Ah, the Adult version of Seventeen Magazine, right? For me it's mostly for Entertainment purposes and beauty tips. Along with the occasional... Well you know what the Magazine is about so I don't think I need to explain especially when it's plastered all over the cover. Too bad this will probably be one of the costs we cut when we move.

Only 265 more days to go!

Day Ninety-Nine. - Project 365.

Day Ninety-Nine. - Black Beans. - This is my first experience with fresh black beans, and when I saw fresh I mean not canned, and after reading the directions I was unsure what exactly "sorting" meant. After figuring that out I now know it means to wash and find all the rocks within the beans. Before when I used canned beans I hated the texture and the way the looked coming out of the can overall. I was very pleased with these since I could wash them and knew exactly what had been done with them and how they were cooked. I used the beans to make the Traditional Black Beans and Rice which came out pretty nicely but next time I will need to improve just a few things.

Day Ninety-Eight. - Project 365.

Day Ninety-Eight. - Our Soon-To-Be Kitchen. - As we already know we made a great choice with the cabinetry and we finally got the see how our countertops look with them. Personally, I think they look great and am very excited to one day to be able to use such a beautiful kitchen. It's so much more personal since we picked them out together instead of having to choose someone else's ideas from a previously owned home. Granted it's more expensive but I think in the end it will all be worth it.

Day Ninety-Seven. - Project 365.

Day Ninety-Seven. - Exact Opposites. - My amazingly wonderful Fiance finally went grocery shopping for us and I had wrote down on the list that I needed some Foundation, which at least he knows is Make-Up, and wrote down the Brand Name, color and anything else that might be helpful in order for him to find the right product. The next morning I woke up and saw the Cover Girl Powder laying on the table and chuckled to myself. I told that he got the wrong thing and he responded with "I'm a man, what did you expect?!". Any girl knows just buy looking at this photo that these are two completely different things. I thought it was pretty cute that he ended up buying the wrong product, but I'm proud of him for trying at least!

Who Needs A HairDresser Anyway?

Yesterday morning I "fired" my hairdresser/make-up artist for the wedding, I say "fired" because she was never actually 100% hired yet, because I can't depend on her. Brutally honest, I know. Time and time again I've tried to schedule a hair/make-up trial so I can get a clear idea of what I want done for the big deal, exactly. She continued to brush me off and I was given chance after chance to redeem herself. After I did not here from her Sunday, all day, and then had to ask her what happened. Again I was given another excuse and this time I was fed up. From day one I've told her that if she is too busy, because I know being a hairdresser/make-up artist can be time consuming, then to let me know and I'd find someone else with no hard feelings. She then informed that she felt it was unnecessary to schedule a hair trial so far in advance, the wedding is five months away, and that she didn't have time to do "freebies". First of all, what gave her the right to choose when I schedule my appointments for MY WEDDING? Secondly, I was more then willing to pay whatever it cost to have my hair and make-up done by her so there wasn't an issue of the "freebie" thing. If I want to schedule this appointment two years prior to my wedding then so be it. I guess this just goes to show that you shouldn't ask your supposed friends, or family, to help out with a life changing event. Honestly, hair and make-up are right there up on the list with my dress as far as importance goes, for me. I wonder how many more people are going to walk out of my life before this wedding is over, it's pretty sad really. Such is life though and I'm now on a mission to find the best damned hair/make-up artists out there.

Day Ninety-Six. - Project 365.

Day Ninety-Six. - A HomeMade Meal. - Since we had yet to go grocery shopping we had been eating out all week and it was starting to get to where nothing sounded good and not to mention pretty expensive. So, I took a few of the things we had left in our cupboards and put them together for a HomeMade Meal. I must say I sure did miss cooking and I wish I had more time to cook great meals during the week.

Day Ninety-Five. - Project 365.

Day Ninety-Five. - We Won! - After visiting my work place on Sunday, for our Friends and Family Event, and dropping off a card with William's name on it, I came into work the next day and was informed that we had won the Forty Dollar Gift Card to a restaurant of our choice. We ended up going to Chili's and spending it that very night, with no money left over. I suppose all that matters is that we didn't have to pay.

Day Ninety-Four. - Project 365.

Day Ninety-Four. - We're HalfWay Done! - This is a huge day for us because since our kitchen, and bathroom, cabinets have been solved we are about twenty days from being completely finished with building our home and are very close to being able to close and move in. Since I'm no Interior Decorator I was pretty nervous picking out all the colors for the house and hoping the clothes won't clash. So far I'm very pleased with our decision in picking these cabinets are the color is lovely. Let's hope the rest of this pans out just as nicely.

Day Ninety-Three. - Project 365.

Day Ninety-Three. - A Night In. - For our Date Night we decided to stay in and relax. And what could be better the Sushi and a Chick Flick? It was fun being able to cuddle on the couch and talk through the movie on the interesting parts, and even feed each other Sushi. It was also a great way for us to have some time together after a long work week.

Day Ninety-Two. - Project 365.

Day Ninety-Two. - Two Little LoveBirds. - Since William's car was in the shop I had to pick him up for his lunch break after I got off work. After going through the McDonald's drive-thru we sat in the car and at our lunch, dinner for me. After we were finished we sat in my car until his break was over and talked. We noticed these adorable little birds sitting on the ledge in front of us. We first saw the smaller of the two birds and then the larger one came over and they were kissing, or it looked like it anyway, and cleaning each other. Couldn't resist to snap a photo, too adorable.

Day Ninety-One. - Project 365.

Day Ninety-One. - We Have Doors! - We finally have real doors for our bedroom, bathrooms, pantries and garage. We also noticed this day that some of the trim as been put up and we have painted walls. Very exciting, eh!

Day Ninety. - Project 365.

Day Ninety. - Just For Fun. - This little tea kettle sits on top of our dining room table, a gift from my parents, and I think it will be my inspiration for our new kitchen. Basically I took this picture for fun because I'm running out of ideas for pictures as the days go on with this Project. But, hey, at least I haven't given up!

Day Eighty-Nine. - Project 365.

Day EIghty-Nine. - Dreaded Doctor's Visit. - As I walk into the waiting room and head up the counter I become even more nervous then I was five minutes ago forcing myself to get out of the car. Of course the receptionists were rude, this is my first time there, and I quickly signed in and went to sit down. I notice a very much older man staring at my out of the corner of my eye, which creeped me out, while I text William to let him know I'd made it safely. After taking my weight, I'm 123 just in case you were wondering, and blood pressure I get to sit in the little room all by myself for what seems like a life time until the Doctor is ready to see me. After speaking with the doctor and having my examination, which was pretty awkward, she decides to write me a prescription and sends me on my way. The extra fun part happened at the Pharmacy when they said it would take 15 minutes to fill my prescription and I ended up being there 45 minutes. Why? Because the insurance company had my date of birth wrong because obviously I'm only one years old. Did I mention I hate doctor's visits?

Day Eighty-Eight. - Project 365.

Day Eighty-Eight. - In The Nick Of Time. - Standing right outside our back door, we are obsessed with our house, I snapped this picture of the sunset. We decided, spur of the moment, to visit our lot and by the time we got there it was already pretty dark but I captured the last few minutes of the sun, probably would look better with out the street light, though. Yep, I like run-on sentences. The End.

Day Eighty-Seven. - Project 365.

Day Eighty-Seven. - No Trespassing. - While walking around in our back yard at the house I noticed there was a little pond across the street. As we walked closer to the pond I noticed a huge fence around the area and that pretty much the whole area was this mossy water. I have to admit I was a little disappointed that there was a fence around it and that eventually houses will be there to block my view of it, anyway.

Day Eighty-Six. - Project 365.

Day Eighty-Six. - Steve & Barry's. - After work I decided to stop by a new store I'd heard about from my Office Manager and see if I could find a cute shirt for William's little sisters birthday. I ended up buying myself a shirt as well, I couldn't pass it up being as all their clothes are 8 dollars!, and got her a cute blue shirt that she hopefully liked.

Day Eighty-Five. - Project 365.

Day Eighty-Five. - Myspace Style. - We ended up stopping by our Lot with William's Mom and little sister, it is her birthday weekend and she is staying with us, and since there were no new additions to the house we walked around the neighborhood and looked in houses that were being built. We ended up looking at this amazingly huge house but I decided not to go upstairs because, honestly, how safe is just a frame?

Whoa, A Real Post?

Yes, I know it's not that often that I write a real post that doesn't contain a Picture of the Day for my Project 365. But I'd like to inform everyone that my Project 365 has now been caught up on, I was about a week and a half behind, and I apologize for the delay in posts. I'm also very proud to say that I've now surpassed last years Project 365 when I stopped at Day 73. I hope that I'll be able to completely finish this year but I will admit that it gets harder and harder to find new, and interesting, things to take photos of each day.

Day Eighty-Four. - Project 365.

Day Eighty-Four. - And Then There Were Walls. - Although it was consider a "Rain Day", late afternoon showers, we decided to head over to the lot and see if there were any new additions. First I noticed that we have an actual knob on our temporary door and then walked in to find the sheet rock in place. I keep walking around saying how it looked like an actual house now and it looked totally different then two days ago when we were able to walk through the walls. Everything is coming together so quickly and it's amazing to see it built before our own eyes.

Day EIghty-Three. - Project 365.

Day Eighty-Three. - Trash Can or Decorative Piece? - After I brought this home, they gave them away to us Office Girls at work, I had it sitting on the wall near the bathroom and William asked if it was a new Trash Can. I simply stated no and that it could be used to sit by the front door, or anywhere, as decorations and put umbrellas or long faux flowers in it. But now the more I think about it the more I think it could be used as either or. As of right now it doesn't really "go" with the colors in our current bathroom, but who knows maybe it could go in the Guest Bathroom in the new house. Ah, I suppose we will see what it's purpose is sooner or later.

Wordless Wednesday.

Day Eighty-Two. - Project 365.

Day Eighty-Two. - The Life of a Housewife. - This night was spent writing a grocery list and making a menu list for the next week and a half. I think this part is worse then the actual grocery shopping since I have to come up with dinner and lunches that please both William and myself. The heap of newspaper behind the list are new recipes that I'd love to try but have yet to been able to splurge and buy all the ingredients so, for now, we've been having the same ol' boring recipes only to be prepared differently or arranged on the list in a new order. Boring, I know.
